ROTARY PARLORS
Best for herds milking >1,000 cows, rotary milking parlors allow for a routine work regimen. Cutting labor costs is an advantage of largely automated rotary milking parlors because there are typically three operators: initial attachment, unit detacher/post dip, and a float that will travel around reattaching units and tending to problems with cattle as they circle. Milk time procedures will be more efficient in a large rotary milking parlor rather than a herringbone or parallel. A disadvantage of rotary milking parlors is the added difficulty performing any individualized cow care which again is why this parlor type is best suited for a large farm.
